Sage X Spey 8130-4 - ROD1403

Launching heavy sink tips and weighted intruder flies across broad, glacier-fed rivers demands effortless two-handed energy transfer, crisp line speed, and authoritative fish-fighting backbone. The Sage X Spey 8130-4 8-weight, 13' two-handed fly rod delivers incredible loop control, rapid recovery, and unmatched versatility for big-water fly fishing. Built to command the wide runs of the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia, and Tierra del Fuego, this 13'0" configuration is an ideal choice for winter steelhead, fresh kings, and trophy sea-run brown trout. Its fast action blank loads deeply into the lower sections while maintaining a crisp tip stop, driving tight aerodynamic loops through stiff river winds with both heavy Skagit heads and long Scandi lines.

Handcrafted on Bainbridge Island, Washington, this recent-model flagship rod incorporates Sage KonneticHD Technology, featuring a high-density composite carbon fiber matrix that optimizes the resin-to-graphite distribution. This advanced architecture minimizes lateral and medial blank vibration, tracking true on forward strokes and delivering tighter, more efficient casting loops with noticeably less physical effort throughout long days on the water. Finished in a handsome Black Spruce blank color with dark green thread wraps and metallic grey trim, it features tangle-free Fuji ceramic stripper guides, hard chromed snake guides, and a down-locking stealth black anodized aluminum reel seat with a laser-etched line weight marking. An ergonomic Super Plus cork fore grip and rear grip provide comfortable, sure handling when applying heavy side pressure to turn hot fish in swift current.
