Having a dedicated streamer rod can make the difference between a miserable day and a great one. That's because great streamer fishing usually entails a great deal of casting. And when you're chucking big chunks of meat into structure, that soft 5-weight just isn't going to get it done. We fell in love with 6-weight streamer set ups while chasing late-fall browns on the Clark Fork in Montana. Paired with integrated sink-tip lines, the 6-weights punched out our weighted streamers with ease and got us into the fish. By the last day, everyone was just leaving their 5-weights in the truck.
