Hardy Cascapedia 8/9 - REEL1431

Taming fresh, ocean-bright Atlantic salmon or winter steelhead in heavy river current requires unwavering stopping power, flawless line control, and timeless mechanical elegance. The Hardy Cascapedia 8/9 fly reel brings historic Alnwick bench-made beauty and contemporary performance to serious big-game and two-handed fly fishing. Built to balance 8-weight and 9-weight single-hand rods or lighter switch and Spey setups, this reel excels when swinging wet flies through classic gravel runs, throwing heavy sink tips, or battling powerful gamefish in swift water. Its generous line capacity accommodates thick floating lines or Spey heads with ample backing, while the solid full-frame cage design prevents thin running line from slipping between the spool and cage.

Handcrafted in Alnwick, England, from full bar stock aerospace-grade 6061 aluminum, the Cascapedia features an unmistakable classic aesthetic anchored by an iconic S-shaped serpentine handle and decorative medallion plates. Beneath its traditional exterior lies a modern, fully functioning disc drag system paired with an audible clicker ratchet that produces the beloved, unmistakable Hardy sound when a fish takes line. The knurled drag selector allows quick, precise adjustments in the heat of battle, while the closed-frame construction delivers unyielding structural rigidity and counterbalances longer fly rod setups naturally in hand.
