Sage Spey II 6/7/8 - REEL1430

Swinging flies through heavy river currents and anticipating the aggressive pull of a fresh steelhead demands smooth drag reliability, generous backing capacity, and unyielding frame rigidity. The Sage Spey 6/7/8 fly reel delivers classic aesthetic charm, modern stopping power, and exceptional balance for demanding two-handed fly fishing. Purpose-built to pair with 6-8 weight Spey and switch rods up to 13'6", this reel handles broad freestones and coastal rivers with ease. Its large concave arbor provides fast line pickup during high-speed runs and offers generous capacity for thick Skagit heads, long Scandi tapers, and running line, while the full-frame cage prevents thin mono and braided shooters from migrating between the spool and frame.

Precision-machined from cold-forged 6061-T6 aerospace aluminum, this fly reel incorporates the proven Sage Sealed Carbon System (SCS) drag to deliver smooth startup inertia and consistent fish-stopping resistance across all weather conditions. A large, knurled One Revolution Drag Knob features twenty numbered and forty detented settings for fine-tuned, repeatable adjustments in the heat of battle. The reel features purposeful mass and minimal porting, providing the counterweight needed to balance modern two-handed fly rods naturally in hand, while an ergonomic machined aluminum handle ensures sure-handed purchase when clearing line and subduing strong anadromous gamefish.
