General Guidance

Before requesting a custom quote, please review our strict trade-in criteria:

Fly Fishing Rods & Reels Only: We do not purchase conventional tackle, waders, boots, apparel, or fly-tying tools and materials.
Graphite & Fiberglass Only: We love the history of the sport, but we do not currently buy bamboo rods.
Fully Operable: Gear must be in 100% fishable condition. We do not accept broken blanks, missing pieces, or seized drags.
Factory-Produced & Original: We do not accept custom-built rods or reels (even if rolled on a premium blank). We also cannot accept rods that have been permanently personalized with names or custom sayings.
Shipping Size Limits: Due to prohibitive freight costs, we cannot accept 1- or 2-piece rods, or any Spey/two-handed rods with tubes exceeding 46 inches in length.

Older & Legacy Models

We focus on circulating current and recent-generation gear. If your specific rod or reel model is not listed in our brand selector above, we likely do not purchase it. This includes famous legacy models (e.g., Sage XP, SLT, or older Winston and G. Loomis series).

Excluded Brands

We do not currently purchase gear from mass-market or entry-level brands, including: Redington, TFO, Echo, Pflueger, St. Croix, Fenwick, White River or any brand not featured in our main search tool.

Condition Assessment

For each section, select the option that best describes your rod.

Rod Blank

Absolutely no nicks, scratches, scuffs, chips or rub marks on any section. The blank looks like it just rolled off the factory line.

The rod has four or fewer areas with minor scuffs, shallow scratches, or rub marks.

The rod has more than four areas of minor scuffs, scratches, or rub marks.

End Cap & Reel Seat

Absolutely no nicks, scratches, scuffs, paint chips, or rub marks. Looks brand new.

There are some minor paint chips or superficial scratches.

There are deep scratches or worn metal.

Cork

Cork is pristine and is the same color and condition as when brand new.

The cork is darkened from normal use, but has no chips or gouges.

The cork has visible wear such as chips, gouges, or scratches.

Rod Tube & Sock

The rod comes with the original rod tube and sock, or an exact replacement(s) from the same brand.

The rod has a replacement tube or sock from a different brand/generic.

The rod does not come with a rod tube or sock.
