Before requesting a custom quote, please review our strict trade-in criteria:
- Fly Fishing Rods & Reels Only: We do not purchase conventional tackle, waders, boots, apparel, or fly-tying tools and materials.
- Graphite & Fiberglass Only: We love the history of the sport, but we do not currently buy bamboo rods.
- Fully Operable: Gear must be in 100% fishable condition. We do not accept broken blanks, missing pieces, or seized drags.
- Factory-Produced & Original: We do not accept custom-built reels or rods (even rods built on a factory blank). We also cannot accept rods or reels that have been permanently personalized with names or custom sayings.
- No Two-Piece or Tubes Over 47": Due to prohibitive freight costs, we cannot accept 1- or 2-piece rods, or any Spey/two-handed rods with tubes exceeding 47 inches in length.
Older & Legacy Models
We focus on recirculating current and recent-generation gear. If your specific rod or reel model is not listed in our brand selector above, we likely do not purchase it. This includes famous legacy models (e.g., Sage XP, SLT, or older Winston and G. Loomis series).
Excluded Brands
We do not currently purchase gear from mass-market or entry-level brands, including: Redington, TFO, Echo, Pflueger, St. Croix, Fenwick, White River or any brand not featured in our main trade-in tool.

What if my gear condition doesn't match?
If our hands-on inspection differs from your self-assessment, we will contact you with an updated valuation for approval. If you decline the revised quote, we will safely return your gear (seller covers return shipping costs).
When and how do I get paid?
Payouts are issued immediately after physical inspection or acceptance of a revised quote. Choose direct cash via PayPal, Zelle, ACH, or paper check - or select store credit to claim an extra +5% trade-in bonus.
How does free shipping work?
Once you have accepted your quote, the system will generate an insured, prepaid shipping label for you. Package your gear as per our instructions and drop off at any UPS collection point.
What gear and brands do you buy?
We exclusively purchase premium, recent model preowned rods and reels from top-tier fly fishing brands such as Sage, Winston, Orvis. Scott, Tibor, Hatch, Ross, Lamson and more. Please see the Fast Quote tab of the Trade-in Tool for a complete list of accepted brands. We do not purchase waders, flies, fly tying materials or any two-piece or bamboo rods.
What if my gear isn't listed?
At the bottom of the Fast Quote tab, click on the "Can't find your gear?" link. Review our detailed trade-in criteria. At the bottom of the criteria list confirm that your gear meets our minimum conditions and click on the "Continue to Custom Quote" link.
