Sage R8 Core 8100-4 - ROD1388

Reaching across turbulent river seams or punching long casts off a wind-whipped beach requires exceptional line control, extra leverage, and uncompromising power. The Sage R8 Core 8100-4 8-weight, 10' rod delivers high line speed, effortless distance, and nuanced touch for demanding big-water fly fishing. Purpose-built for targeting hard-fighting species like steelhead, salmon, and coastal striped bass, this extended 10'0" length gives anglers incredible line management when mending heavy indicator rigs, managing sink tips, or executing single-hand spey and roll casts. Its fast action taper provides the muscle needed to turn over bulky flies into stiff headwinds while retaining the sensitive tip response required for instant hook sets and delicate tippet protection.

Handcrafted on Bainbridge Island, Washington, this fly rod incorporates Sage Revolution 8 Technology, combining a proprietary axial carbon fiber formulation with advanced nano-sintered resins. This material architecture and circumferential hoop fiber construction maintain the blank's cylindrical shape under heavy tension, shifting the casting sweet spot closer to your hand for a more intuitive feel and reduced casting fatigue. Finished in a Silver Pine blank color with slate wraps and graduated trim, it features Fuji ceramic stripper guides, hard chrome snake guides, and a gunmetal anodized aluminum up-locking reel seat with an integrated hidden hook keeper. The Flor grade full-wells cork grip and cork and EVA fighting butt offer comfortable leverage when locking down on powerful runs.
