Sage Spey R8 7130-4 - ROD1399

Swinging flies through expansive river seams and feeling the sudden, electric pull of an anadromous gamefish demands effortless two-handed efficiency, exceptional line control, and immediate energy transfer. The Sage Spey R8 7130-4 7-weight, 13', 4-piece two-handed fly rod delivers unmatched versatility, intuitive loading, and precise tracking across diverse fly fishing waters. Positioned as the do-it-all centerpiece of the Spey R8 family, this 13' configuration covers summer and winter steelhead runs as well as Pacific and light Atlantic salmon across classic waterways like the Deschutes, Klickitat, and Clearwater rivers. It handles both touch-and-go Scandi deliveries with long leaders and heavy Skagit heads paired with dense sink tips and weighted intruder flies, generating clean, aerodynamic loops while remaining light enough in hand to prevent casting fatigue during long days in the current.

Handcrafted on Bainbridge Island, Washington, this fly rod incorporates Sage Revolution 8 Technology to optimize every phase of the Spey cast: the lift, load, and deliver. Sage combines an advanced axial fiber formulation with nano-sintered resins and circumferential hoop fibers to hold the blank in an optimal cylindrical profile under tension. This architecture virtually eliminates lateral rod deflection and lost energy on the forward stroke, ensuring laser-straight tracking and consistent loop stability. Finished in a distinctive Ale blank color with grey thread wraps and gold and black trim, the build includes tangle-free Fuji K-Series stripping guides alongside hard chrome snake guides. An ergonomic Super-Plus grade cork fore and rear grip fits comfortably across various hand placements, complemented by a down-locking matte granite anodized aluminum reel seat with a rich walnut insert to balance your fly reel smoothly in hand.
